Prayer for Earth Day

As a person of faith, environmentalist, and avid lover of nature and the great outdoors, I offer this prayer for Earth Day. It is adapted from page 120 of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Book of Common Worship.

Creator God,
awaken all people to the inconvenient truth
about the dangers we have inflicted upon the planet
you entrusted to our care.
Implant in each a reverence for all you have made,
that as responsible stewards of the Earth
we may leave no trace of our presence in its wild places,
and restore and preserve its delicate ecological balance
for up to the seventh generation. Amen
